Tara is a force-free certified professional dog trainer with 15 years of experience, who is committed to strengthening the bond between human and dog teams through clear communication and customized learning. Since 2011, she has celebrated the success of hundreds of dogs and their owners as they navigate every stage of their life-long partnership. 

Tara partners with her clients to create a unique training plan with hands-on, practical approaches that are supported by proven, science-based positive reinforcement methods. Whether you are seeking reliable recalls, loose leash walking tips or wanting to modify specific behaviours in your dog, Tara works collaboratively to break down training plans into manageable pieces to support client success. 

Class Offerings

all classes are 6 weeks and have a class maximum of 4 dogs

Positive Puppy

For puppies 5 months and under
vaccines must be up to date

Learn all the basics such as recall, drop it, leave it, loose leash walking, etc.

Emphasis on socialization to novel objects, surfaces, sounds, and other puppies

Develop skills and techinques to teach your pup

Practice body handling for happy groom sessions

Learn appropriate play under supervision

Play fun learning games

Puppy Teen 1

For puppies over 5 months
vaccines must be up to date

Still learn the vital basics taught in Positive Puppy

Begin working on building the skill STAY

Start teaching your pup to focus more attention on their handler

Fun skill testing warm ups to review last week’s material

Good Manners

For dogs 1+ years
must be okay with being 6 ft away from another dog

Skills you will learn:

Loose leash walking

Recall

Attention to handler

Polite people greetings

Many other basic skills + manners

Puppy Teen 2

Prerequisite: Postive Puppy / Puppy Teen 1
/ equivalent group class elsewhere
MUST KNOW: leave it, drop it, recall,
go to mat

Polish and improve on the skills learned in previous classes

Learn heel + manners at doorways

Advanced Good Manners

For dogs 1+ years
Prerequisities: Good Manners / Puppy Teen 1 or 2 / equivalent group class taken elsewhere
